Le Petit Jardin (LPJ) is a unique preschool program that combines loving childcare with daily experience in an around the French and Francophone cultures. Children are introduced to sounds and words of the French language through song, nursery rhymes, stories and general everyday interactions. As children are exceptional language learners by nature, this total immersion environment enables them to quickly become familiar with French and begin to know how to use it for themselves. Our days here at preschool are rooted in the idea that a child learns through play and exploration! We lead children each day through a fun variety of arts and crafts, story time, classical dance (ballet), cooking, science actives, music, outdoor and free play time. These experiences are guided completely in French to familiarize children with numbers, letters, colors, shapes, and other early vocabulary. We recognize that each child has unique talents, learning style and personality. LPJ is committed to ensure optimal social, emotional and linguistic growth. Here at OFS, we are a year round program from August -August and we do our best to follow the breaks in the Mill Valley School District calendar. We are licensed to accept children ages 2-6 and follow a primary caregiving model that allows children to stay with their same teacher all years of preschool. Our curriculum is Reggio Emilia-inspired with children taking on 3-4 long term projects per year based on their own interests. At the end of each project, families and teachers get together for Presentations to watch short documentaries based on the students' learning through their project. We are open M-F 8am-5pm. We offer 2-5 day schedules and either part-time (8:30a-2:30p/9a-3p) or full-time (8a-4:30p/8:30a-5p) days.

If there is space, we will offer you a chance to come and observe in the classroom. Observations are parents-only and last between 30-45 minutes. This is an opportunity for you to see the classroom in action; you can see some of our routines with the children, and talk with some of the teachers. After the tour and observation, if we determine that your family would be a good match for OFS, we will extend an invitation to you to register your child! Once registration forms are complete and the deposit (prepaid tuition for the end of the year) is paid, your students space reserved.

In an unsteady world, a child’s education means everything. At Marin Montessori School, we prepare students to be citizens of consequence who are deeply knowledgeable and capable and who are tethered to the natural world as well as to their local and broader communities. We understand that each child is unique, capable, and motivated from within, and our expert faculty unleash the intellectual and ethical capacities within each student at each age along a carefully calibrated sequence of exploration and discovery. Marin Montessori’s pedagogy is ideal for this moment of disruption and possibility. At MMS, we provide an environment and approach that are antidotes to a culture that can rob children of their curiosity, purpose, and empathy. We believe a child’s education should be a journey toward joy and purpose and away from conformity and anxiety. Here, we inspire and liberate each child’s inherent sense of wonder and purpose by building their academic knowledge and real-world know-how.

At Tree Urchins, kids use their curious minds and sense-craving bodies to test out their place in relation to earth’s elements. Preschoolers learn best by observing and touching their surroundings, and we encourage them to slow down long enough to listen to nature as well. As we wander, we also wonder: Can I use dead branches to build a fort? Does a lineup of rocks dam up the stream? How high up the tree is comfortable for me? The kids discover the endless loose parts of the natural world as they conduct their experiments, and gradually incorporate these in play to satisfy a strong desire for peer connection.

The Little Village Preschool Finding the best preschool for your child can feel like navigating a complex maze of options and emotions. As a parent, you're faced with balancing practical considerations like location and cost with the desire to provide the most nurturing and enriching early education experience. You may worry about your child's readiness for this big step, their ability to adapt to a new environment, or whether the preschool's philosophy aligns with your family's values. The pressure to make the "right" choice can be overwhelming, especially when it feels like this decision could impact your child's future. At New Village School, we understand these challenges and are here to partner with you in making this important decision, ensuring your child's first steps into education are positive, joyful, and foundational for lifelong learning. Our Philosophy: Through conscious intent, the experience at the Little Village is one where living simply allows for children to learn to care for one another, for themselves, and their surroundings. Within this core tenant, childhood is preserved through slowing down and allowing children to be children. At the Little Village, children play, grow food, prepare their meals, make the table beautiful, share a meal, tend to a garden, tend to their home away from home, sing, move, paint, draw, play, rest, and play some more! The Little Village School creates a daily and weekly form that allows for calm and ease. Within this form there is room for flexibility, spontaneity and creativity. When there is a natural rhythm to the day, children feel more at ease, which in turn creates smoother transitions and overall less of a need for loving discipline. Children enrolled in the Little Village are taught to see goodness in the world, in themselves and in others. The children are met with respect, kindness and warmth. They are seen and given genuine presence. Each day, life is celebrated in simple and joyful ways. The Little Village School protects, respects, and values childhood. We honor slowing down, allowing children to play, teaching children to be mindful of caring for their space, teaching children to be respectful of all humans, creatures and our Earth. We strongly encourage screen free childhood. We strive for as close to zero-waste living as possible. We care deeply for our parents/guardians and support them as they set boundaries, slow down, tell stories and create more joy. The Little Village thanks you for the opportunity for us to be a part of your child's precious early years.
