Where to Donate Clothes in Marin County This Holiday Season

As the holiday season approaches, it's a wonderful time to declutter and make space for the new while giving back to those in need. As a personal stylist, I’m constantly helping my clients donate gently used clothing. Here are a few of my favorite local organizations to donate to this season:

1. MARIN FOSTER CARE COMMUNITY RESOURCE CENTER
This incredible organization supports foster children and families in Marin County by providing clothing, supplies, and resources. They accept donations of needed clothing items through their Community Resource Center. Email them at donations@marinfostercare.org to inquire about current needs.

Drop-off location: 55 Mitchell Blvd., Suite 2, San Rafael, CA  94903
Donation details: Call ahead to schedule a drop-off at (415) 507-0557
Website: marinfostercare.org

2. ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY OF MARIN COUNTY
St. Vincent de Paul supports Marin residents facing poverty, providing them with essentials like clothing and shelter. Your donations help provide warm clothing for those in need this winter.

Drop-off location: 820 B St, San Rafael, CA 94901
Donation hours: Monday–Saturday, 9:30 AM – 3:30 PM
Website:vinnies.org

3. BLOOM
Bloom is a wonderful nonprofit that helps individuals rebuild their lives by providing free wardrobes to those in need, such as survivors of domestic violence and low-income families. Many of the people they serve are looking for work, making Bloom a particularly good place to donate professional wardrobe items.

Drop-off location: 1557 4th St, San Rafael, CA 94901
Donation hours: Tuesday–Saturday, 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Items accepted: Adult and children’s clothing, shoes, accessories

Website: bloommarin.org

4. GOODWILL OF MARIN
Goodwill helps empower people through job training and placement services. When you donate to Goodwill, your items are sold in their retail stores and the proceeds support community programs.

Drop-off location: Mill Valley: 411 Miller Ave, Mill Valley, CA 94941 // San Rafael: 809 Lincoln Ave, San Rafael, CA 94901
Donation hours: Monday–Saturday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM; Sunday, 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Website: sfgoodwill.org

5. THE SALVATION ARMY
The Salvation Army accepts a variety of gently used items, including clothing, to support its programs for individuals and families in need. Your donations help fund services that provide shelter, food, and disaster relief.

Drop-off location: 350 4th St, San Rafael, CA 94901
Donation hours: Monday–Saturday, 9:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Website: salvationarmyusa.org

This holiday season, give the gift of warmth and dignity to those in need while making space for new memories and moments with your family. Each of these organizations makes it easy for busy moms to drop off gently used clothing and make a meaningful impact. Happy donating, and happy holidays!
