MIND VACATION

By: Jocelyn Kay Levy   |   July 6, 2022

“Parents don't really go on vacations. They just take care of their kids in a different city.”

This quote makes me laugh every time, because I completely relate. And honestly, sometimes I prefer to stay in the comfort of my own home rather than going on a trip and attempting to take care of my kids elsewhere.

But hey, I got an ambitious spark and here I am, on “vacation” in Mexico!

Eighty percent of the time everybody wants to do different things, but there are sweet moments where we all come into alignment and get a sliver of that harmonious vacation we all fantasize about.

So, I now invite you, whether you are traveling or at home, to try this simple grounding mindfulness exercise called, Back-to-Back Breathing, which will give your mind and body the vacation vibes it is craving.

1.     Sit cross legged, back-to-back with your little one

2.     Close your eyes

3.     As you tune into the other body, try to sync up your breathing, inhaling and exhaling at the same time

4.     Take 10 deep, mutual breaths together

Back-to-Back Breathing is extremely calming and relaxing and you might be surprised to find that 10 breaths easily become 20, and sometimes neither of you will want to move from this comfy, chilled-out zone.
